AKASHA STARR

Akasha Starr has been preforming since her feet touched the ground, and takes immense pride and joy in the art of dance. Her classical training began at age 4 with the traditions of ballet, modern, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip hop, and other various forms. By her teenage years Akasha had started on the path to folkloric dance which included Polish, Afro-Peruvian, African, as well as Polynesian.

Realizing her passion to move and her ability to captivate any audience, Akasha quickly delved into her current addiction to Middle Eastern Dance. By studying under masters such as Suhaila Salimpour, Aziza, Jillina, Ansuya, Lorraine and many more, Akasha has been able to catapult her own style of modern bellydance into the spotlight.

She has performed with amazing Los Angeles area troupes such as Desert Sin and Subee Djinn, and has also had the privilege of dancing at top restaurants like Dar Maghreb in Hollywood and Marrakesh in Costa Mesa. In addition, she loves to showcase her modern abilities at several underground shows such as Original Sin and Dance Macab I and II..

BELLYDANCE CLASSES: Currently, Akasha shares her passion with her belly dance students in the Orange County area by teaching beginners and intermediate students privately in her home studio as well as the Brea Community Center. Contact her at bellygoddess5@yahoo.com or (714) 271-2477. Private and group lessons by request.
