Middle Eastern Dancer Jody has studied and performed Middle Eastern dance for over fifteen years. Jody first studied Egyptian dance with the legendary Aisha Ali, one of the original proponents of the pure Egyptian style, as well as other folkloric styles, including Khaleegy, Tunisian, Moroccan, and Turkish. Jody then began performing in an ongoing Tunisian folkloric show with the incomparable Zahra Zuhair. Jody continued to study and dance in folkloric productions with Zahra Zuhair for over eight years, including a Tunisian solo in Po Na Na Dance Theatre original production of "Layla and Majnoun," as well as appearing in the encore production. Jody has taken numerous workshops from Egypt's Raqia Hassan and others. Jody has strived to maintain the purity and graceful subtlety of Egyptian style and personal expression. Jody captures the earthy elegance of raqs sharki and the playful exuberance of balady. She has performed at night clubs and restaurants throughout L.A. Jody lives and performs in the Los Angeles, California area.
