Kamala Almanzar has been working as a professional Oriental dancer for over 30 years. Her credits include hundreds of Middle Eastern nightclubs and restaurants around the world, including the large Arabic clubs in Hollywood and London in the 1970’s and 80’s, where she performed nightly with Egyptian orchestras and famous singers and dancers of the time. She also danced in movies and on television. Many of her videos can be found on “Youtube” under Kamaladance.

She has studied with numerous Egyptian teachers, and has an extensive background in ballet and jazz.

Kamala was a founding member of the “Flowers of the Desert”, who literally jump started the Middle Eastern Fusion movement in the early 1990’s, and performed in and produced numerous sold out theatre performances.

BELLY DANCE CLASSES:
Kamala believes it is important when looking for a Belly Dance teacher to find someone with extensive professional qualifications and dance experience. Her students include professional soloists and troupe members, as well as students interested in fun and exercise. All are welcome! Her students have won first place in the “Belly Dancer of the Universe” competition yearly from 1999 to 2011. Kamala’s passion is for choreography, and she is available for workshops and individual choreographies. Kamala offers many opportunities for student performance. Her current classes are located in Alhambra, Atwater Village, Glendale. She teaches beginning bellydance and advanced choreography. Also, she has a class called "Bellyrina" which combines belly dance with a ballet warmup.
