Bellydance offers you an artistic approach to exercise. We teach bellydance as a healthy movement practice for everyday. Enjoy a gentle workout while learning the basics of the dance. Benefits of this ancient feminine art form include strength, stamina, stretch, self-confidence, sensuality and spirituality.
Robin De Danann has been the last 13 years joyfully sharing Bellydance through countless classes and hundreds of workshops in the Greater Hamilton region and beyond. Repeat clients have included The City of Hamilton, Oakville General Hospital, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, McMaster, and Mohawk. And she’s owned and operated her Dundas studio, Everyday Bellydance, since 2002. She has performed professionally at various venues, specializing in family celebrations, and dances daily for her own pleasure and delight.
A student of bellydance since 1990, Robin continues to study widely all forms & nuances of the art form. Robin graduated from Toronto’s Arabesque Academy Professional Program in 1992. Favourite teachers and influences include Tahira Badre, Raven Crow, Roula Said, Ilana Salazar, Hadia, Aziza, Jenaeni, Ansuya, Shareen El Safy, Jamila Salimpour, Keti Sharif, Leila of Egypt, and Mona Said.
Other life experiences contributing to Robin’s teaching and performance style: present enrolment in an aromatherapy and massage program, homebirthing and raising 4 daughters, 2 years of homeschooling her girls, studying liberal arts at York and kinesiology at McMaster, knowledge and use of energy work, playing numerous musical instruments, CFL cheerleading, and beauty pageant wins (Miss Hamilton ‘88, Miss Canada International ‘90).
Robin's vision of bellydance is one of women everywhere, all ages and sizes, feeling stronger, healthier, happier and more beautiful in their bodies, more connected to nature, to the Divine, and to each other by bringing bellydance into their everyday lives. Weekly classes and, more importantly, daily bellydance moments are where Robin and her fellow dancers develop the strength, self-confidence, sensuality, spirituality, and sisterhood that are the gifts of their bellydance lifestyle.
Robin’s unique lifestyle approach to bellydance & focus on accessibility to the everyday woman have garnered her a 6-page article in Homemakers Magazine, a full-page/full-color spread in the Hamilton Spectator, several spots on CHTV, and even a national TV reality show appearance.
