Sherri Wheatley, Tribal Belly Dancer
Sherri has also been a frequent guest artist of the San Diego based Atash Maya Dance Collective, where she focused on developing a distinguishable repertoire as a tribal fusion soloist as well as continuing to challenge herself in the realm of fire performance. Most currently, Sherri’s dedication, professionalism, and superb artistry has earned her a principal role with Los Angeles based Desert Sin, a experimental bellydance theatre company with a cult-like following and dedicated fan base. Sherri performs nationally and has been featured in several internationally distributed DVDs including ‘Bellydance Reloaded’ with Urban Tribal, ‘Bellydance-o-Rama’ with Desert sin distributed by IAMED and most recently the soon to be released 2007 EEMED show DVD.
This beginner level class focuses heavily on conditioning and tribal fusion technique. We will break down and drill basic hip, arm and abdominal work as well as simple isolations and combinations. We will also practice tribal improv and learn short choreographies. Be sure to bring knee pads as we may be doing floor work. This class is welcome to students of all levels. All skill levels are welcome from those interested in fitness through dance to those looking to build and refine their skills in the realm of tribal fusion bellydance. Most of all, come prepared to have fun! Please be sure and let me know before class if you have any injuries or health issues that I should be aware of. |
